Cosmos, Savee and Are.na are wonderful platforms for shared taste and community discovery. Cosmos lets you browse public inspiration and search by color. Savee gives you clean boards, a Figma plugin and team spaces. Are.na has spent fifteen years building an open, thoughtful network where people connect ideas across channels. If you want a social feed where other people feed your stream of inspiration, those services do that well.

I built Tenoa because I wanted a quiet, private visual library. Hosted web services keep your files on their servers, where access depends on internet connections and ongoing accounts. I prefer to keep my visual references on my own computer. That way, my collection stays completely within my reach.

Tenoa on your desktop saves each item as two standard files in a normal folder on your computer. You get the original file untouched, plus a plain text markdown file beside it for your note, tags and summary. There is no proprietary container. Any app can open the folder, and you can view your files at any time.

You pay $49 once for Tenoa on your desktop, which covers up to three computers. It includes a 14-day free trial with no card needed. That price includes a year of updates and hosted sync. After the first year, hosted sync and new features are an optional $29 a year. If you stop paying, everything you own keeps working, same-network sync stays free, and compatibility fixes stay free.

Frequently asked questions about switching

Can I import my existing saves from Cosmos, Savee or Are.na?+

You can get your images out: Cosmos offers bulk zip download on Premium, Savee lets you download from account settings, and Are.na lets you download a channel. I could not confirm the formats. Drop the files into Tenoa on your desktop. Boards and tags will not come with them.

How does Tenoa store my files?+

Every save becomes two files in a normal folder on your own disk. You get the original file untouched, along with a markdown file beside it containing your note, tags and summary. Any app on your computer can open and view that folder.

Does Tenoa need an internet connection?+

No. Tenoa on your desktop runs entirely on your computer, so you can save, organize and search your files offline. An internet connection is only needed if you use optional hosted sync across devices or third-party AI keys.

What happens after the first year if I do not pay $29?+

Everything you own keeps working. Same-network sync stays free, and you continue to receive compatibility fixes at no charge. The optional $29 a year fee is only required if you want hosted sync and new feature updates.

Does Tenoa have a social feed or public profiles?+

No. Tenoa is a private visual library for your personal collection. There is no discovery feed, and there are no follower counts, public boards or saves from other users.

What platforms does Tenoa support?+

Tenoa on your desktop runs on Mac and Windows today. Free iPhone and iPad companion apps are live on the App Store. There is no Android app.
